D’Gayle’s Vision
Our vision is to promote awareness and educate our peers and communities about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, alternative sex and gender cultures to encourage acceptance, tolerance and self-pride within our community through community involvement.
WHAT THE ACRONYM LGBTI STANDS FOR – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex form a group collectively known as LGBTI.
D’Gayle’s Mission
To educate and bring awareness to the Northern Cape communities of the existence of LGBTI people in order to prevent and combat hate crimes, suicide, victimization and injustice.

Our Aims and Objectives
- To provide support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and Intersex individuals in our communities their families and friends.
- To render several forms of counseling to clients, such as face-to-face counseling, support groups (facilitated by a social work students) and telephone counseling and referrals.
- Provide HIV&AIDS related counseling, HT (HIV Counseling), education, awareness, empowerment and other services in support of efforts to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS and to empower those already infected to be able to lead productive lives.
- Advocate through forums, seminars, public talks, workshops, discussions, debates, documentary screenings, poster campaigns, public exhibitions, to instill pride and to empower LGBTI people and educate them on methods of developing self-confidence and sustainability.
- Training and development aimed at build capacity to strengthen programs interventions that are LGBTI-centered and rights-based internally and externally, ensuring that interventions respond to the intersections between health care services, HIV and poverty.
- Work closely with existing networks and services of D’gayle as well as the Health Departments strategy to build individual, organizational and community capacities to respond to and prevent violence against the LGBTI Community.
- Establish Activities which are focused on improving services for LGBTI survivors as well as activities which are transformation orientated.
- D’gayle intends to provide shelter services for clients (where relevant) who have been the victims of homophobia and sexual orientation based violence. These services will be located in the capital city Kimberley and Kuruman, and a “second stage” house community.
- To create a platforms and systems which organizations can establish and affiliate themselves with the LGBTI Community.
- To create a safe social and other spaces for all LGBTI people to be free to express themselves and interact in healthy, non-threatening ways.
- To annually organize a Pride Event, Miss LGBTI ambassador competition where various CBO’s and the Governmental Departments come together and celebrate sexual and gender diversity.
